A message from Oldham College and Oldham Community Safety Team
Oldham College fully supports the work that is currently ongoing to find those responsible for arranging the Daisy Nook rave that took place this past weekend.
As stated below information and intelligence is being gathered about that event – and any future ones.
Any students considering attending similar future events or mass gatherings at this time, are urged to please consider and understand the risk. Not only are you putting yourself at risk, but this also includes your family, friends, colleagues, your tutors, plus other staff and students when you return to Oldham College.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind students that we have a specialist team that can offer support to any student who has been affected by last weekend’s events. This includes emotional support, support around alcohol/substance misuse, and helping you to report any information you may have which will be valuable to ongoing enquiries.
If you do require any support, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0161 785 5555.
You may be aware from the media that an illegal rave took place at Daisy Nook last weekend.
More than 4,000 people attended and this has caused serious concerns about the spread of Coronavirus –not just to those who attended, but also for their family, friends and colleagues.
We are working with Greater Manchester Police to identify those responsible for organising the event so that appropriate action can be taken.
We are also aware that information about the rave was posted on some Social Media platforms and through some closed groups.
We need your help to gather any information or intelligence about this event, and any future ones that might be planned to take place in Oldham.
If you become aware of any information via Social Media or any other source, you can share this in total confidence to Greater Manchester Police on 101 or via their webchat facility at www.gmp.police.uk. You can also report information anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
We thank you for your support and assistance in helping to keep people safe.
